Basic principles of mobile design offered by Google

Table of Contents

1. A clear and prominent call to action.

Perform secondary tasks available through menus or “above the fold” (the part of the webpage that cannot be seen without scrolling down).

2. Simple and user-friendly menus.

Mobile users don’t have the patience to scroll through a long list of options to find what they want. Reorganize the menu to use the fewest possible items without sacrificing ease of use.

3. Make it easy to return to the homepage.

Users expect to return to the homepage when they tap the logo in the top left corner of their mobile device, and they get frustrated when it’s unavailable or not working.

4. Don’t let promotions steal the show.

Full-page promotions that obscure content, such as asking users to install an app, annoy users and make it difficult to complete tasks.

They should focus on the top without bothering users; sites that try to highlight their promotions above the content do not pass Google’s mobile optimization, and this can negatively affect our ranking.
